Chevrolet Enjoy, a Mpv/Muv has 12 variants manufactured in India in the form of 6 Petrol and 6 Diesel cars. The car comes in 6 colors, namely; Caviar Black, Linen Beige, Sand Drift Grey, Summit White, Switchblade Silver, and Velvet Red. General Motors India introduced its first entry-level MPV - the Chevrolet Enjoy in 2013 in hopes to enter the MPV segment. The distinctive Enjoy is among the most capacious, pragmatic and affordable cars in its segment.
In the front, the MPV has a vertical grille with chrome highlights, wrap-around headlamps, neatly designed front bumper with air dam, leaf-shaped fog lamps cluster. The side profile features bold creases running from the headlamps towards taillights and 14-inches wheels. Though, it’s the roof mounted spoiler, large tail lamp cluster and tail gate with thick slat of chrome sums up the looks.
INTERIOR & FEATURES
The interior design is typical with basic layout and inferior material quality. It has abundant cabin space in the 7-seat and 8-seat seating variants. Though the height of the driver’s seat is adjustable, it has narrow foot space. Besides displaceable second row seats the car has good thigh support. Furthermore, the third row seats lack under thigh support, but offers best-in-class knee room. The ingress/egress is easy. A new single din audio player with Aux and USB connectivity, air conditioning unit, power steering, front and rear power windows, day and night inside rear view mirror, power adjustable outside rear view mirrors, multipurpose 12V power outlet in third row etc. are the new additions made to the car.
The Chevrolet Enjoy is offered in two engine options - a 1.4-litre, smartech petrol and 1.3-litre, smartech, turbocharged DOHC diesel. The former conveys a maximum power of 98.82bhp at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 131Nm at 4400rpm, while the latter delivers 73.77bhp at 4000rpm with 172.5Nm at 1750rpm. Both variants are mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The 1248 cc Diesel powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 18.2 kmpl, whereas the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 13.7 kmpl, respectively.
PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING
Though both the engines are sophisticated and urbane, the petrol unit’s low end torque performance is a fiasco. The diesel engine can attain 0-100kmph in 21.36 seconds, while the petrol version takes 14.8 seconds. The former version, in the first gear runs effortlessly with negligible turbo lag, making it compatible for city driving conditions. The power and torque delivery is continuous throughout low and mid revs. Though, the NVH levels are high, and the car has a bit of a body roll, the ride and drivability is poised and nonchalant.
The opponents of Chevrolet Enjoy are Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, Nissan Evalia and others in the segment.
