Chevrolet Sail Hatchback has 8 versions available in India in the form of 4 Petrol and 4 Diesel cars. It is manufactured in 6 colors, namely; Caviar Black, Linen Beige, Sandrift Grey, Summit White, Super Red, and Switchblade Silver. Launched in 2010, the Chevrolet Sail was last modified in 2014.
Irrespective of new updates, the car still resembles its predecessor with a design that is conventional and outdated. The new model has headlamps and chromed fog lamps at the front end, while the new alloys design and blacked out B-pillar mark a difference to its side profile. The rear end now has a new tail lamp and revised boot lip with a chromed strip.
INTERIOR & FEATURES
A new dashboard with dual-tone black and beige finish, all-black steering with golden shade, better door handles, chrome surrounded AC vents and a gear knob amplifies its otherwise old and basic design. Though the plastic quality is improved, it fails to make an impact. It has a new 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. Unlike most Chevrolet car models, it fails to have some indispensable features such as a multi-information display, climate control and steering mounted audio system.
The new model is run on the same engine model as before - a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel. The 1.3-litre diesel variant gives a maximum power of 76.9bhp at 4000rpm with a peak torque of 205Nm at 1750rpm. The 1.2-litre petrol variant gives a maximum power of 84.8bhp at 6000rpm, while an impressive peak torque of 113Nm at 5000rpm. Furthermore both the engines are mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
A fuel efficiency of 22.1 kmpl is given by the 1248 cc diesel model, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 18.2 kmpl, respectively.
PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING
Though both the engines are rarefied, the diesel motor is swifter than the petrol unit. The car has a mid range performance which is strong, a power supply that is continues and an in-gear acceleration that is adept. The gasoline engine is suitable for both city and highway driving purposes. Sadly, the automobile has a poor steering which spoils its handling. The hatchback has an efficient high sped stability and is considered one of the best entry-level Chevrolet cars in India in terms of comfort and ride quality.
Its rivals are Maruti Suzuki Swift, Honda Brio, Hyundai i20,Ford Figo, Fiat Punto and others. +Read Further
