Hyundai Neo Fluidic Elantra, has 7 variants available in India in the form of 3 Petrol and 4 Diesel cars. The car comes in 6 colors, namely, Midas Gold, Mystic Blue, Phantom Black, Polar White, Red Passion, and Sleek Silver. The Hyundai Elantra was one of the first models to present the company’s new fluidic design philosophy which was launched in 2012. The Elantra is Hyundai’s first, and one of the top 10 cars in the automobile market to attain over 10 million sales at an international level. It has enviable allure and nimble. Aiming to keep its product fresh, Hyundai introduced the Elantra facelift in 2015 with some additional features and cosmetic updates. Though, the engine mechanism remained unchanged.
Receiving substantial cosmetic updates and lot of chrome treatment, the new Elantra looks more refreshing and premium than the old model. Though, it retains the original design. On the front end, the car features new projector headlamps with LED light, bold front bumper with chrome insert grille and new fog lamps. The side profile gets chrome window belt-line, chrome door handles, moldings on belt line and 10-spoke 16-inches alloy wheels. The rear end, too, is revised with dual-tone rear bumper, chrome tip exhaust and rear lamps with new LED effect. INTERIOR & FEATURES
The interior has been changed to a great extent. An all-black theme instead of beige, steering wheel with dark brown leather wrap, leather seats, rear AC vents, metallic scuff plates, new-generation touch audio with 4.3-inches color TFT LCD, auto cruise control, 10-way power seats with lumber support, smart key with push button start and several other features are added to the model. The Elantra is very comfy with top-dollar material quality and numerous equipments. The seats are supportive, and convey abundant legroom.
The sedan runs on 2 engine options- a 1.8-litre dual VTVT petrol and the 1.6-litre VGT CRDi diesel engines. The former gives a maximum power of 149PS at 6, 500rpm and 18.1kgm of torque at 4, 700rpm, the latter offers 128PS at 4, 000rpm and 26.5 kgm between 1, 900rpm and 2, 750rpm. Transmissions available are a 6-speed manual gearbox, and an automatic version, which is available only on the top-end models.
A fuel efficiency of 22.7 kmpl is given by the 1582 cc diesel variant, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 16.3 kmpl, respectively.
PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING
Both the engines are dense and economic and the 1.6-litre unit doesn't feel incisive as compared to its rivals. It can achieve 0-100kmph in 10.56 seconds. The car, swifts through city traffic, but gets uncomfortable on high revs. The sedan offers top-notch ride quality with comfortable and cushioned seats and dexterous suspension unit that cancels jerks and bumps. Handling is improved by light setting, low resistance and silica tyres.
