Mahindra e2o, a Hatchback has 2 Electric variants available in India in sparkling 6 colours, namely, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue, Eco Green, Oceanic White, Spanish Red and Sunfire. Yellow. Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles launched Mahindra E2o in 2013.
E2o is based on the concept and technology of REVA i, which was the first electric car of India launched by REVA Car Company. REVA collaborated with Mahindra automobiles to work on this electric car concept. It is a two door hatchback with four seats available in three different variants- E20 T01, E20 T2 and E20 T20.
The model’s body is of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) which is a dent resistant material capable of absorbing big impressions impeccably without any fail. The paint of the E20 is steeped onto the body making it scratch resistant as well. Its front fascia possesses a very large bumper with a high quality grille in the middle. The rear part of the car has a boxy look with remote controlled trunk door. The four seater hatchback is endowed with only two doors thus elevating the need for seat adjustments every time a person sits in the back and/or leaves it.
Interior & Features
The interiors are fascinating. Its dashboard is made of supreme plastic quality equipped with immaculately positioned AC vents and switches. The touch screen present in the middle of the dashboard is the think tank of the car providing requisite information to the driver, displaying maps, charging, nearest charging points, etc. Speed, distance travelled and other such relevant information is indicated via electronic meter present under the steering wheel. It is more spacious and has sizeable legroom than its predecessor, REVAi. Even being a two door car, it manifests ample room in the rear seats.
E20 is powered by a 48 V lithium-ion battery taking five hours to get completely charged. The three phase induction motor generates maximum power of 19 kW and a torque of 53 Nm, with an automatic type transmission gearbox.
Fuel economy of 120 kms in a single charge is delivered by the 3cc Electric powered variant.
Performance and Handling
Even being an electric car, it delivers a range of 120 km with a maximum speed of 81 km/h via fully charged battery. It has certain innovative features that can be controlled through an app on any Smartphone allowing the user to download maps of the nearby places, search for the nearest charging point, switch on the AC even before entering the car.
Its suspension system is furnished with a gas filled Macpherson strut at the front and gas filled shock absorber with attached coil springs at the back for comfortable rides on uneven roads. It is endowed with a unique feature that avails analysis of various aspects of the car and allows it to communicate with the engineers in the headquarters located in Bangalore, via more than 100 sensors bestowed in it.
Since the market is not yet flooded with electric hybrid cars, it does not have any competition in this price range.
