Volkswagen Cross Polo, a Hatchback is manufactured in 2 versions in India in the form of 1Petrol and 1 Diesel car. It Polo comes in 3 colours, namely, Deep Black, Flash Red and Reflex Silver. Similar to the Fabia Scout, the Cross Polo is a compact crossover from Volkswagen stable which is basically a jagged up version of the popular Polo hatchback. The car looks huge and more athletic than the regular hatchback variant, owing to some cosmetic changes. Volkswagen has positioned the compact crossover above the hatchback. With this cross, the company targets young buyers who look for sportiness, spaciousness and fuel efficiency in one car. It is the first hatchback-based crossover of the country.
Mirroring the design philosophy of the Polo hatch, the new VW Cross Polo portrays the simple yet eye-catching design. The core difference between the hatchback and the crossover is the new front fascia and the matte black plastic cladding at the bottom of the car. A new radiator grille with a thick horizontal slat in chrome, flanked by a bright headlight cluster integrated to high intensity halogen lamps, up front. The front bumper features a wide perforated black matte coloured air dam and a set of rounded shaped fog lamps. The overall matte black plastic adds to its sporty touch and also gives a sense of a higher ground clearance. At the back, the cross has matte black lower half of the bumper, and a silver skid plate at the bottom besides the attractive Cross Polo badging.
INTERIOR & FEATURES
From the inside, the Cross Polo resembles the Polo hatchback; however, there are few changes to upholstery and colour scheme. The seats are covered in Livon upholstery with titanium black finish that fits the athletic character of the cross. The dashboard gets black scheme and features quality plastic that complements the elite theme of the cabin. The Cross Polo features new three-spoke steering wheel, silver accents on the central console and restyled instrument cluster. It is equipped with climate control, a multi-function trip meter in the instrument cluster, steering-mounted audio controls, and a 2-Din music system with MP3 player with AUX-in Port and a USB interface along with 4 speakers and a remote control.
The car runs on a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, TDI engine in place of the previous 1.2-litre TDI motor. This engine is capable of producing a top power output of 90PS along with a peak torque of 230Nm. The petrol version is propelled by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder motor that is good for 74bhp of power at 4200rpm and 110Nm of torque at 2000rpm. This engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox that transmits power to the front wheels of the car.
The 1498 cc Diesel model delivers a fuel economy of 20.14 kmpl, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 16.47 kmpl, respectively.

Known for offering best-in-class performance and drivability, the Volkswagen Cross Polo shares its mechanics with the Polo hatchback. The vehicle lacks the repose and performance required on rough roads due to low ground clearance. Though, the good quality suspension offers stable and soothing driving experience.
