Volkswagen Jetta, a Sedan has is manufactured in 6 variants in India in the form of 2 Petrol and 4 Diesel cars. It comes in 6 colours, namely, Blue Silk, Deep Black, Platinum Grey, Pure White, Reflex Silver, and Toffee Brown. A reworked version of Jetta has been launched by Volkswagen in the Indian auto market. The most noticeable changes in the model are upfront. A Passat-like chrome front radiator grille, larger air intake and reworked bumper are present in the front.
The car has been customized from both inside and out giving it a unique look. The headlight cluster and the radiator grille now come fitted with three horizontal slats which add to the elegance comes reworked bumper and fog lamps, which together make the car look refreshing.
INTERIOR & FEATURES
The new model sports a new three-spoke steering wheel, making the cockpit athletic. The top variant (with automatic transmission) sports paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, offering additional convenience to the driver. Inside, there are high-gloss black accents, especially in the cockpit. There is also a new touchscreen infotainment system, which features 6-CD changer and eight speakers, which has unmatched sound quality and thus makes the trip remember able. The company has retained a number of comfort features from the erstwhile model like cooled glove box unit, dual zone 'Climatronic' automatic air conditioning unit, heat insulating glass in side & rear windows and electrically operated windows & outside mirrors.
The car is offered in both petrol and diesel engine. The petrol version runs on a 1.4-litre TSI engine, which has a displacement of 1390 cc and gives out a maximum power of 120.33 bhp with a maximum torque of 200 Nm. The diesel trim gets a 2.0-litre TDI engine, which has a displacement of 1968 cc. Based on common rail direct injection technology, the maximum power produced by this engine measures at 138 bhp. In order to transmit the torque output to its front wheels, the auto maker has equipped a six speed manual transmission system in the petrol version of Jetta, whereas the diesel trims are offered with an option of either six speed manual or DSG automatic gearbox.
The 1968 cc Diesel model delivers a fuel economy of 19.33 kmpl, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 14.69 kmpl, respectively.
PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING
The car has a lot of functions that improve the drivability. Electronic Stability Program (ESP) maintains vehicle agility by lowering the traction loss. There is a set of robust suspension system as the front wheels have a coil spring system with shock absorbers and stabilizers. On the other hand, the rear set of wheels get a multi-link suspension system fitted with stabilizer bars. The minimum turning radius of the car is 5.5-meters. There is rack and pinion based electric steering wheel which has speed sensitive function for better control.
The car competes against the likes of Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla Altis and Hyundai Sonata in the Indian market.
